Music and Education
I’m a young Estonian-Icelandic composer and love telling stories through music, film, and photography. Born in Iceland, my educational background was formed in Estonia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, as well as in Germany.
In the autumn of 2025, I will begin my composition studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, after graduating from the music department of Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium earlier that year, where I studied under the guidance of composers Tõnu Kõrvits and Marianna Liik.
I began composing short piano pieces at the age of six alongside my piano studies. Over time, I ventured into the worlds of chamber and choral music, with many of my recent pieces being written for various string and choral ensembles, as well as piano.
In 2022-2023, I furthered my musical knowledge under the guidance of Tatjana Kozlova-Johannes at the Tallinn Music and Ballet School (MUBA). During this time, I also participated in an international workshop exchange with the Swedish Lilla Akademien held in Stockholm and Tallinn. The focus of the exchange was writing for percussion and solo voice, with our pieces being brought to life through live performance.
In 2021, I wrote the music for Aksel Ojari’s play Pikad Sammud. This was my first experience working with a dramaturgical text, shaping the play’s musical soundscape around A. H. Tammsaare’s 1908 eponymous novella. It was a truly memorable project—not only as I was given creative freedom to compose and record music for string quartet and piano, but also because the entire cast and production team were students, eagerly embracing experimentation.
Awards
I have been the recipient of five 1st and three 2nd prize awards at Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium’s annual composition competition.
In 2025 I was selected as one of 20 winners of the Tallinn’s Talent competition (unordered), for my piece Okasroosikese, written for piano and accordion.
My short film Find Me On Heaven’s Mural received first prize at the Kristjan Jaak Peterson Student Film Festival in 2024.
Film and Photography
Alongside music, I’m very interested in the magical worlds of photography and cinema. I always carry my trusted companion, my old Pentax MX, with me whenever I can. My love for photography has led me to be the photographer for Tallinn feat. Reval old music festival for four consecutive years, as well as volunteer as a photographer for Station Narva (part of Tallinn Music Week) and Music Meets Film (part of Black Nights Film Festival/PÖFF).
As part of my studies at the Kinomaja Film School in Tallinn, I wrote and directed a short film, for which I also wrote its own score. My film Find Me On Heaven’s Mural was shown at the 28th Black Nights film festival (PÖFF), one of only 15 A-list film festivals in the world. It also won first prize at the Kristjan Jaak Peterson Student Film Festival.
The art on cinema and film hold a dear place in my heart. Some emotions can only be portrayed through music, and some are best portrayed through film. The symbiosis of picture and sound is a form of art I find very intriguing, having scored 4 short films in the past couple of years, including one of my own.
